Casual Recreation Assistant
Our Recreation Assistants assist the full-time staff in making sure all the departments’ services, objectives and goals are fulfilled. This includes a variety of duties such as lifeguarding poolside, front of house services, cleaning, and set up/down equipment. Successful candidates will be the face of the organisation, so we are looking for candidates that display a high level of professionalism along with excellent customer service skills.
Benefits and support
All Sport Brighton staff receive free membership of the facilities which includes use of the peak gym, access to classes, and open swimming sessions.
Successful candidates will be supported by the operations team on an ongoing basis with training provided monthly by the team.

It is a requirement for casual rec assistants to hold a valid NPLQ qualification to work at Sport Brighton. If you don’t hold an NPLQ qualification we are still open to applications providing you are available to attend the NPLQ course we have running from Monday 16th December – Friday 20th December 2024.

Football referee
Sport Brighton’s refereeing programme gives students the opportunity to pursue their passion for officiating whilst at University. We’re looking for students who are either FA qualified or interested in obtaining their qualification to referee within the Parklife 11-a-side social leagues.
Qualified FA referees will receive £15 per fixture.
Students interested in becoming qualified referees will receive subsidised training costs through Sport Brighton (in return for refereeing 6 in-kind Parklife fixtures), and £15 per fixture once qualified.

Sport Participation Assistant – Panthers Play Activator
Volunteers are vital to the successful planning, promotion and delivery of the Parklife programme. Sport Brighton are delighted to offer a range of volunteering opportunities that can be tailored to your interests and the skills you want to develop whilst ensuring the needs of Sport Brighton are met.
Responsibilities vary depending on the activity and can be discussed upon application. We’re looking for students to cover one or more of the following:
- Planning and facilitating activities
- Creating marketing material to promote sessions
- Producing social media content
- Completing pre and post session admin tasks
- Contributing to sport-specific and wider Parklife development plans
- Carrying out league administration duties (team sheets, fixture generation, results reports, league tables)
- Ensuring sport-specific COVID guidance is adhered to at all times
- Providing regular updates to participants
Successful applicants will receive an induction meeting and full training, access to the volunteer incentives, and inclusion in wider Sport Brighton Volunteer CPD.
