The University of Brighton has two dance clubs. One Eastbourne based and the other Brighton based. You can find out more information on these below:
DANCE | BRIGHTON CAMPUS
Brighton Panthers Dance Society (BPDS) is the dance society for Brighton campus students. Anyone is welcome to join BPDS whatever your ability.
The society has 6 competitive squads. These include Hip-Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Ballet and Wildcard. Each squad trains for 1.5 hours a week and is run by 2 captains from the society who choreograph and teach a group routine. You can audition to be in as many as you like. The squads then compete in at least 2 national competitions in February/March against other university squads, including Loughborough Dance Competition.
If you don’t want to be in a competitive squad, you can still be a part of BPDS. The performance team is held once a week where you can try out a variety of styles and have the option of performing the routines at the club's yearly showcase in the Spring. There are also open sessions from 6-7 on a Wednesday which are run by a different society member each week – these are just for fun.
The club also welcomes all to their socials. Anyone can attend these socials and we have members who come along every week. These are on Wednesday nights, the same night a lot of other sports teams have their socials, so it is a great way to meet new people and socialise with others in the society.
