Parklife Colour Run - FAQs
- 1.What should I wear?
Wear the white t-shirt and sunglasses provided in your colour pack. Make sure that you wear clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Wear as much white as possible to make the colour stand out!
- 2.Is the race competitive?
No, this is not a timed event. Walk, jog, run or dance your way around the course – super fitness is not required. The idea is to have fun while being drenched in beautiful colour.
- 3.How does the colour run work?
Volunteers will be placed at each of the ‘colour stations’ located around the course. They will throw coloured powder over you as you pass through these zones – drenching you in colour. (They will aim for your body and avoid the face). You can also use your own colour pouch in the designated throwing zone either before or after the event.
- 4.Is it safe?
Yes. The powder is made from natural corn starch coloured with fully tested food and cosmetic dyes. It is biodegradable, non-hazardous, non-toxic. It is also easy to clean!
- 5.What if it goes in my eyes or I accidently swallow some?
Don’t worry – the powder will do no harm. We recommend that you wear your sunglasses provided in your pack but if powder does go in your eyes then simply rinse with water. If you accidently swallow some, it will just taste like dirt. Not very tasty but it will not harm you.
- 6.How do I get the powder off?
The easiest way to get the paint off is while it is still fresh and dry- shake, wriggle and jump up and down, then use a soft brush. After this soap and water should do the job. If you are not changing then please make sure you bring something to sit on in the car/bus/train (e.g. a towel or bin bag).
- 7.What about excess powder on the ground?
Clean up squads will be at each colour station. The powder is biodegradable and will be rinsed away with water, causing no harm to the environment.
- 8.Cameras
If you want to bring your own camera (or phone) then we recommend that you cover it with plastic, to stop the powder causing any damage should it get into the lens or any other components. Sport Brighton will also be taking photos on the day which will be posted on our social media sites after the event.
- 9.Spectators
Any remaining powder pouches will be available for spectators to purchase on the day. These can be used in the designated throwing zone near the finish. There will be a lot of colour throwing so spectators are also advised to wear appropriate clothing.
