Be Active Day - Monday 18th November

Wellbeing week is taking place from the 18th - 22nd November, and kicking off the week is Be Active Day (Monday 18th November). Getting active is not only great for your physical health but can also improve your mental wellbeing. However, it doesn't mean you have to spend hours in the gym if you don't want to - focus on what you enjoy, there are plenty of other physical activities that you can do and fit into your daily life.

Themes for each day of the whole week are:

Monday – Be Active

Tuesday – Take Notice

Wednesday – Learn

Thursday – Connect

Friday – Give

Alongside our regular Parklife sessions, where you can pay £1 to turn up and play lots of different sports ranging from Football to Ultimate Frisbee, we are putting on some extra activities on MONDAY 18th NOVEMBER to get you thinking about being active and looking after your wellbeing:

 

Wellbeing Week Walks

We are leading Wellbeing Week Walks from Eastbourne Sports Centre, Falmer Sports Centre, Cockcroft Reception and Varley Park on Monday 18th November.

 

Wellbeing Week Walk through Wild Park Woods

Join staff and students for a walk through Wild Park Woods finishing at Cockcroft for a free hot drink afterwards.

Meet at Cockcroft Building Front Entrance @ reception desk

Strolling through Stanmer - Varley Park Wellbeing Week Walk

Fancy getting a bit of fresh air and going for a walk to explore the beautiful countryside surrounding Varley Park? Make sure to wear warm clothes and sensible footwear, as it may be cold and muddy!

Meet at The Hub Front Entrance @ reception desk

Strolling through Stanmer - Falmer Wellbeing Week Walk

Want to get some fresh air and explore the local area surrounding campus? Make sure to wear warm clothes and sensible footwear, as it may be cold and muddy!

Meet: Falmer Sports Centre Reception

When: 12pm (return 1pm)

No booking required!

 

Seafront Stroll - Eastbourne Wellbeing Week Walk

Fancy a bracing walk by the sea to blow those cobwebs away? Make sure to wear warm clothes as those fresh sea winds can take you by surprise!

Meet: Entrance to Hillbrow

When: 12pm (return 12.45-1pm)

Yoga

Grand Parade

We have also organised a lunchtime yoga session at Grand Parade! This will take place at Grand Parade room 225 from 12-1pm, and cost only £1. There are only 25 places available, so to book your place, please click here.

 

Health Screenings

One of our fantastic duty officers, Hannah, is offering a limited number of free health checks for students and staff. A combination of quick tests, the results will give you a general overview of your health status and some advice on next steps. Sessions will be 15 minutes long and take place on Monday 18th November from 4.30 - 5.30pm (Eastbourne Sports Centre) and 11.30am - 1.30pm (Falmer Sports Centre). Please make sure to enter your full name (so we can email you further details) when you book your place here.

 

Step Challenge

We are also hosting an friendly inter-school step challenge to see who can walk the most steps throughout the week. Staff and students . This is open to students and staff so encourage everyone in your school to get involved! Results will be announced on Monday 25th November so keep track of those steps! Ice Skating

Join us for our ice skating event in Brighton. A great way to join other students in being active and having fun. Details here.
