Brighton Win Local 7s Tournament | Rugby Union

On Sunday 28th April the University of Brighton Rugby 1st team played a 7s tournament in the Sunshine 7s Social Pool in East Grinstead.

The first game was against Savills. Brighton got off to a frantic start with very little control throughout the game. After going a couple of tries down, Brighton started to play as a team and went on to win the game.

The next handful of games Brighton played were against East Grinstead and Eastbourne which were both won very comfortably to finish the team's pool matches.

In the semi-final Brighton came across local rivals the University of Sussex. Having beaten them twice this season Brighton went on to win this match.

In the final Brighton came across Savills once again. Having already beaten them once the team was rather over confident which allowed Savills to get an early lead. With two minutes to go and still needing two tries to win, Brighton knew it was time to wake up. Brighton soon made an impact on the scoreboard with Hanley running in a 70m try. In the last 40 seconds, Stash kicks-off with another wonderful high ball which was recovered and then shipped out to Sheppard to score the winning try.

A great performance from all that played.
