FA chooses Brighton for new women’s academy partnership

The Football Association has chosen Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club with the support of the University of Brighton as one of ten new Women’s Super League Academies. The University will be providing support under its Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) Delivery Site status.

It means the University will support Brighton and Hove Albion in delivering performance sport services to the Women’s Super League (WSL) Academy programme.

East Sussex: Travel your way to health this September

Calling all Eastbourne and Hastings staff and students, challenge yourself to get more active with the Active Travel Challenge. The Active Travel Challenge is being delivered by Sustrans as part of East Sussex County Council’s Active Access for Growth Programme.

The Challenge is all about taking part and getting more people to try healthy active journeys for their travel. The Active Travel Journey Challenge runs from 1 Sep - 30 Sep 2018.

Physical activitity improves student mental health

University students who take part in regular physical activity say they perform better, are more employable and enjoy better mental wellbeing, according to the biggest study of its kind, the British Active Students Survey. This has also been the findings of Sport Brighton's 2018 survey around its Parklife programme. This saw 76% of Parklife participants having a moderate/high mental well-being score compared to 60% of non-participants of the Parklife programme. GEORG14 JACKSON Cup 2018

On 2nd June, University of Brighton Women’s Team (Brighton Campus) ran the GEORG14 JACKSON Cup 2018.

A women’s only football tournament in memory of their team mate and friend Georgia, who sadly passed away on Tuesday 5th December 2017.
